Only One Available. The épée is the largest and heaviest of the three weapons used in the sport of fencing. The modern épée derives from the 19th-century épée de combat, a weapon which itself derives from the French small sword. As a thrusting weapon, it features a stiff blade, triangular in cross-section with a V-shaped Fuller. Fencing has been popular in France for centuries, and quality blades are hard to come by, and can be re-fit any number of times, based on the fashion of the time.

This is a very interesting American-made Épée style small sword from the mid-18th century with a brass hilt and a now-relic condition blade.

The blade now measures 30 ¼” but it may be missing the very tip as the end is now a bit slanted. The bowl style crossguard is a bit loose, with some nice border patterning on the underside. The overall length is 36 ½”.

The all-brass hilt is in good condition, surviving much better than the blade.

Very difficult to find in any condition, with a great hilt and a now-relic blade.
