Original Danish Unissued Krag–Jørgensen M1915 T-Back Bayonet for Gevær M/89 Rifle with Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a a very unusual bayonet with an overall length of 22", introduced in 1915 and featuring an almost 18" "T" back blade with wood grip of very unusual design. Designated the Kårdebajonet m/1915 (Sword Bayonet Model 1915), this T-back bayonet was used with the m/1889 Gevær (Rifle) from 1915–22; and beginning in 1923 and 1924 with the m/1889 Rytterkarabin (Cavalry Carbine), Ingeniørkarabin (Engineer Carbine), Fodfolkskarabin (Infantry Carbine), and Artillerikarabin (Artillery Carbine).

The entire bayonet is a one-piece forging, save for the press stud. The wood grip scales are inset into the hilt and secured by flush brass rivets. The metal is in the white, although blued examples are also encountered. The scabbard is black leather with steel locket and chape. The locket incorporates a spring locking device. Scabbards made of brown leather are also encountered.

This very nice example is completely unissued, with only a bit of light staining in areas keeping it from being mint. It is still "in the white" and is also completely devoid of markings. It looks almost like an arsenal sample or test run bayonet, with the manufactures and proof markings left off. We can see no indication it would be a reproduction or anything but original. It comes complete in its original steel mounted black leather scabbard of also unusual design, which has a "latch" that goes around the bayonet crossguard.
