This is a wonderful highly decorative flintlock trade pistol, most likely from what is now the Czech Republic, then known as Bohemia. It is heavily decorated throughout, with a carved stock, embossed brass mountings, engraved lock, and even an embossed and engraved barrel! This looks to definitely have been made for someone very well-heeled, as the amount of work that went into this was not insignificant.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe pistol measures 18 inches in overall length, with a smoothbore 12 inch long 0.55\" bore barrel. It is in lovely condition, showing wear from age and light use. There are a few cracks in the stock, which is relatively thin due to the decoration, and there is a chunk missing to the rear of the lock plate. The metalwork overall has a lovely mellow patina, showing that it has been kept relatively clean, and not subjected to any adverse conditions.
