Probably quite a few.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNot only was the Sten ubiquitous in movies and among Allied troops, but the German Army, of all people, eventually made numerous copies of it. Earlier, Otto Skorzeny, the famous head of Germany’s equivalent of Britain’s Commandos, tried hard to get permission to use the silenced version of the Sten for his troops, but his request was rejected on grounds of national—read that as National Socialist—arrogance.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis non-firing BATF compliant Sten Mk II is made up of original parts on a solid aluminum dummy receiver with a live barrel, and duplicates the feel and appearance of the original Sten Mk II Machine Carbine. It also has the rare and hard to find early model \"Loop\" butt stock. This style butt stock was found to be fragile, and replaced in the field with a sturdier \"T\" butt stock, which was also carried over to the Mk III. The trigger still pulls and the selector switch still moves, though the bolt handle does not move, per BATF regulations. The magazine catch is fully functional, and the barrel can still be unscrewed from the dummy receiver. The bore is in excellent conditior, almost mirror bright with little sign that it was ever used.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is finished in the stove black used on most British small arms of the Second World War. The condition is very good, and it is faintly marked \u003cstrong\u003eSTEN MKI\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cem\u003e[I]\u003c\/em\u003e on the top of the magazine well over serial number \u003cstrong\u003eFA 50809\u003c\/strong\u003e, under which is a much clearer \u003cstrong\u003eSTEN MK2\u003c\/strong\u003e stamp. The bottom is stamped with \u003cstrong\u003eB \u0026amp; T\u003c\/strong\u003e, for Broadhurst \u0026amp; Thompson of Birmingham, England, a subcontractor during the war. There are some proof marks, and also \u003cstrong\u003eR.F.I. \/ FR \/ 1963\u003c\/strong\u003e, indicating that it was re-arseneled at Rifle Factory Ishapore in in India. The country was still part of the commonwealth at the time, and received much in the way of aid from Great Britain, including obsolete arms. The Loop butt stock is additionally marked with \u003cstrong\u003e39277\u003c\/strong\u003e, and the barrel is marked \u003cstrong\u003e9135\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Mk II was the most widely distributed of the various Sten models, and was featured in numerous motion pictures, including the marquee poster for the great movie \u003cem\u003eThe Bridge On The River Kwai\u003c\/em\u003e.
