Original British WWI Officer's Sam Browne Leather Holster for Colt 1911 .45cal Pistol - Very Rare

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The British Officers in WW1 usually supplied much of their own equipment, as was the Army tradition. As a rule British Officer's carried large Webley Revolvers Marks IV, V, and VI all in the large .455 Caliber. Some Officers supplied themselves with Smith & Wesson Revolvers and later in the War with Colt New Service Revolvers. Just occasionally some wealthy individual splurged on one of those "New" Colt "self-loading" (semi-automatic) pistols: the Model of 1911 in .45ACP.

Here is an original Sam Browne brown top quality leather holster for this 1911 pistol . Interestingly it carries no provision for a spare magazine (somewhat naive perhaps). It was possibly intended to fit another model self loading pistol as well, as the flap tab is equipped with TWO securing holes, just like the U.S. Cavalry holsters intended for both Colt and S.& W. Revolvers.

This British Sam Browne holster is very rare and very seldom encountered. In fine condition, with a beautiful aged brown color.
