The flask features an unusual and somewhat macabre embossed \u003cstrong\u003e“Dead Game”\u003c\/strong\u003e hunting scene showing several harvested animals hanging upside down. The decoration appears on one side of the flask only.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe flask dates to approximately the \u003cstrong\u003e1850s to Civil War era\u003c\/strong\u003e and was almost certainly intended as a sporting or hunting accessory rather than a military issue item. Its decorative game motif is entirely consistent with the type of flask marketed to civilian hunters and sportsmen during the percussion firearm era.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe spring mechanism remains present and functional, and the spout cutoff operates properly.
