Original 19th Century Ottoman Flintlock Holster Pistol with Silver Inlaid Barrel - Circa 1810-1820

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This comes from an old U.S. Collection formed in the 1950's and 1960's that we have just received. Basically untouched from 50 years in storage, this is a good example of Islamic Ottoman work of the early 19th century. Turkey was emerging and was starting to be influenced by the West, which combined western and eastern fashions together.

This is a very nice flintlock pistol with a carved wood stock and fitted with iron and brass mounts. The stock itself is also engraved with some nice designs around the barrel tang, and in front of the lock. The brass Butt Cap brass has long ears that secure it to the grip stock. The iron barrel is inlaid with silver in foliage and decorative designs. There is no provision for a ram rod, as these were usually carried on a neck thong carried around the neck. 17" in overall length with an 10" barrel. The iron trigger guard is engraved with line decoration.

Fully cleaned and ready for display.
