Original Item: One-of-a-kind. At first glance this looks to be simply a large funnel, but a closer look shows that the bottom is in fact plugged, and there is a "lip" on the top for pouring. We believe this to be conical "Ale Warmer", used over a low fire to heat up very cold ale before being dispensed on a ship. It is made from sheet copper, which is brazed together in some places, and soldered together in others. The ear-shaped handle is also copper, bent over at the edges for strength. Overall it measures 10 1/2" In height and 5 1/2" across.

King George II of Great Britain reigned from June 1727 to until his death in October 1760, when he was succeeded by his grandson King George III. The "Seven Years War" started in 1756, lasting until 1763, and this ale warmer fits right into that time period.
Condition is very good, with the expected dents and dings from long service, storage, and age. The handle looks to have torn away once, and then was re-fastened with steel rivets, instead of the original copper.
A very interesting piece of British Naval history, ready to display!
