British WW2 Era Named Serving Officer?s Pewter Beer Tankard (One Only)

Item Description

Original Item: One Only. Most likely a Japanese War era traditional English Pewter One Pint beer tankard, with glass viewing panel in base, Manufactured and marked by "Jewell Bros. Ltd., India" and "English Pewter". By tradition glass bottomed tankards were adopted to allow the drinker to see whilst imbibing in case of possible attack. Possibly a necessity in 17th and 18th century Taverns but just " A Good Story" by WW2. This particular Tankard engraved to "Lieut. E. Haworth" who reportedly was killed in action leaving his tankard unclaimed in the Officer's Mess. Totally un-researched, received from a Regimental Military Museum that was disbanded in the 1970s. An interesting memento of from a casualty of the WW2 conflict.
