British SMLE Rifle Mk III, One Only
Original Item: Early date, made at the beginning of The Great War in 1914. It has all the correct features for this date, including a magazine cutoff, a rear sight with a windage adjustment, and a Number 3 magazine. This rifle could have seen action in all the great battles of the war, from First Ypres to the 1918 offensives.
Good inspection markings on metal parts. The bolt is clearly marked with the BSA logo consisting of three stacked Martini-Henry rifles with fixed bayonets. Meticulously cleaned to museum standards. The metal action parts have excellent finish, suggesting that the rifle may have gone through a Factory Thorough Repair (FTR) at some point.
