British H.M.S Victory 1:48 Scale Model with Custom Mahogany and Glass Case
Original Item. Only One Available. Simply stunning, this is a handmade wooden model of possibly Britain's most famous fighting ship, the First Rate Ship of the Line, H.M.S. VICTORY, that was Admiral Lord Nelson's Flagship at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805.
Launched from Chatham in 1765 it weighs 2,142 tons, is 186" in length and had a crew of 850 men. It is still a commissioned Royal Naval Ship and lies in dry dock in Portsmouth England today.
Our 1:48 Scale Model is fully masted with all rigging and unfurled cloth sails, dozens of brass cannon, wood plank deck, wheel and more. It appears nearly exact in all detail. It is securely mounted within a custom made high quality black mahogany wood case that measures 79" long, 30" wide, 59" tall. The case is glazed with shatterproof ultra clear safety glass.
The collector we acquired this amazing piece from spared no expense to keep this very striking display in top condition; no dust, damage or missing pieces. It is immaculate. Nicely mounted at the base of the ship is an engraved brass plaque giving the ship's name, maiden voyage date and other details. Date of model manufacture is unknown, however, an expert in the field advised us that he believes it to be between 60-80 years of age.
This is a serious item for the serious collector. It will instantly be the focal point of any room, impressive for its shear size; the display weighs in terms of four hundred pounds and requires special handling and delivery arrangements. Delivery is free within the contiguous 48 states.
