Original U.S. WWI Canteen with WWII Cup in 2nd Pattern USMC Canvas Carrier

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice U.S. WWII Canteen and Cup set, complete with an early war issue U.S. Marine Corps 2nd Pattern Canvas Carrier.  This carrier was essentially the same as the 1st Pattern, except the regular press snaps were replaced by Lift-the-Dot fasteners. This change was made shortly before the introduction of the 3rd pattern cover with the "dog eared" flaps. These covers were unique to the Marines and lacked markings and felt lining of the Army type.

The included canteen is a WWI 1918 dated M1910 seamed Aluminum example by L.F.&C., which stands for Landers, Frary & Clark Company of New Britain, CT. WWI Canteens were still perfectly good, and many were put back into service for WWII. The Aluminum Canteen cup is a WWII model, dated 1944 and made by the FOLEY MFG. CO., as marked on the galvanized steel handle. Both are in very good condition, and the canteen has the correct aluminum cap with an intact cork washer and chain. The cork has shrunk a bit so it does fall out of the cap, but it is definitely original.

This is a really good chance to pick up a nice canteen in an early issue USMC carrier. Ready to display!
