Original U.S. Early WWII M11 Inert Practice Rifle Grenade - dated June 1942

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Totally inert and demilitarized according to BATF guidelines. This practice rifle grenade cannot be converted to an explosive devise and is not available for export.

This very nice early WWII M11 Practice Rifle Grenade, which was the practice version of the M9 anti-tank grenade. It consists of a cast iron head and a sheet metal tail assembly. The M9 was the first U.S. anti-tank grenade. Although it used a shape charge warhead, the nose mounted impact fuze reduced its effectiveness. This also had problems with reliable detonation. These were only produced for about two years after its introduction in 1940. Measures approximately 9.2" long and 2" in diameter.

The warhead unscrews from the base so that the interior can be inspected. It is marked with lot number F / 29 on the side, and still has much of the original black paint present. It also still shows the original white stenciled markings, which give the manufacture date:

PRACTICE GRENADE M-11
LOT 62884-1 - ASC. 6-42

A very nice example, ready to display!
