Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. An excellent example of a WWII Australian Issue Machete, often referred to as a “Machete 15 Inch” in Australian Army parlance. Beautifully marked with a DD Broadarrow and dated 1944. These machetes, especially in this condition, are quite difficult to find on this side of the globe.

This machete is blade marked with “D (broadarrow) D” with “DC-1944” underneath. The DC indicates that this particular example was fabricated by Die Casters Pty Ltd of Melbourne. The machete itself is in beautiful condition, still exhibiting a gorgeous blued finish, original sharpened edge (devoid of nicks!). The original plastic grip scales are in excellent condition, unbroken, and only showing slight wear from handling over the decades.

The sheath is an original “Jungle” issue version of the standard All-leather British/Commonwealth Machete Sheath. The Body is made of Resin impregnated fiber intended to withstand the brutal heat and humidity of a Jungle environment better than leather. This sheath is a specimen that matches the machete perfectly. The markings on the reverse with “P.I.I.1944” and “(Broadarrow) 33” marking faintly visible. Lanyard cord is undoubtedly period, and appears to have been secured to the pommel of the machete for a very long time.

An excellent example that would be quite difficult to upgrade from! Ready for display!
