Original German WWII General Admiral Rank 1.5 X 1.5 Meter Command Flag - Generaladmiralflagge

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This an incredible excellent condition example of a WWII German Kriegsmarine Navy General Admiral Rank Command Flag, officially termed the Generaladmiralflagge in German. The flag is of wool construction, with a canvas header, and is marked General.Adm. 1.5 X 1.5, indicating the type of flag and that it measures 1.5 x 1.5meters, about 5 feet square. It also has the correct ink stamped Eagle / M Kriegsmarine acceptance marking. The design features an Admiral's cross with two crossed swords in yellow and brown in the lower hoist.

These flags were standard equipment on the larger capital ships, and were hoisted whenever a Generaladmiral was on board. This rank, equivalent of the U.S. Navy's Admiral, was considered a "flag officer", which was any Navy officer of high enough rank to fly a flag from the location of their command. This also meant that the ships would need to keep a full set on board for ranks of Konteradmiral (Counter Admiral) upwards, to match the rank.

This example is in very good condition, and still has a complete halyard sewn into the header, with a loop on top and about 24 of rope below. There are some small tears and moth holes, as well as a few stains, however these are rare in any condition.

Most impressive and ready to display!

NOTE: Alligator clips pictured are not included, and were only used to hang the flag.
