Original U.S. Indian Wars 12th New York Regiment Militia Army Issue Pattern 1887 Fatigue Sack Coat

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Indian Wars/Spanish-American War Era Model 1887 Fatigue Blouse (or “Sack Coat”) fitted with New York State “Excelsior” Buttons, and 12th Regiment Militia numbers on the collar. The set comes with an accompanying pair of uniform trousers which are similar in pattern to the 1902 Pattern.

Coat features a five button front, with three small buttons on the reverse of each cuff. Front buttons date to the Civil War era, and are a mix of John H. Boylan, and Scoville manufacturers. There are a few period repairs to the jacket, most notably on the left upper chest. The jacket is fully lined, with two interior pockets. A label for the manufacturer, Browning King & Company is sewn to the nape of the neck. The coat does have some slight mothing here and there, as expected of a garment of this age.

Trousers are of a medium sky blue Melton wool. There is some scattered mothing and fading. They still, however, display perfectly with the Pattern 1887 Fatigue Coat.
