Directly below the ADSEC patch is another Sgt. chevron. Both are in excellent condition, the ADSEC patch has darkened on the yellow thread, as well as the white thread, but doesn’t take away from the beauty of it.

Left Lapel: Quartermaster Corps PIN back collar disk
Right Lapel: “U.S.” PIN back collar disk

On the inside of the jacket, at the top towards the collar is the name Spandacino with four numbers just below it, 3712. Other markings can be found on the inside right corner on the lining, which is another number, 1005.

The size tag still remains on the jacket and it reads 36L, indicating that its a large size. The approximate measurements are:
Front Length: 24 ½ inches
Left Shoulder to Cuff Length: 24 inches
Right Shoulder to Cuff Length: 24 inches
Chest WIdth: 14 ½ inches
Waist Width: 17 inches
Hip Width: 16 inches

The overall condition of this jacket is very good, given the age. All buttons and buckles are present, functional and retain their original color and or paint. There are no tears, rips, holes or significant damage. This would be a great research project and incredible addition to any WWII collection!

The Eisenhower jacket or "Ike" jacket, officially known as the Jacket, Field, Wool, Olive Drab, is a type of waist-length jacket or blouson developed for the U.S. Army during the later stages of World War II and named after Dwight D. Eisenhower. Intended to be worn on its own or as an insulating layer beneath the M-1943 Field Jacket and over the standard wool flannel shirt and wool sweater, it featured a pleated back, adjustable waist band, fly-front buttons, bellows chest pockets, slash side pockets, and shoulder straps.

The Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force was the headquarters of the Commander of Allied forces in north west Europe, from late 1943 until the end of World War II. U.S. General Dwight D. Eisenhower was the commander in SHAEF throughout its existence. The position itself shares a common lineage with Supreme Allied Commander Europe and Atlantic, but they are different titles.
ADSEC was the Advance Section, Communications Zone, European Theater of Operations, United States Army, which was formally activated at Bristol in February 1944. It is commonly referred to as simply "ADSEC". This was a U.S. Army logistical agency, the first on the Continent. Upon its creation ADSEC was attached to the U.S. First Army, and gradually took over the Communications Zone activities. The agency moved forward with the Armies and provided close support. ADSEC provided detailed planning for the invasion of Normandy, D-Day.

As such, ADSEC did not have a "base" of operations because this support organization was designed to be on the move continuously. For example, major operations always had a designated "D" day or start date for operations. ADSEC units were moved into operating areas on or several days after a particular "D" day. They stayed until about the D+40, at which time FECOMZ (Forward Echelon, Communications Zone) units would take over. ADSEC units then moved forward to the next "D" location.
