Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a nice fully functional example of a British "Ditching Whistle", worn by Royal Air Force bomber and fighter aircrew in WWII for use when downed. This is the classic snail style whistle often seen hanging from the 1941 pattern Mae West or aircrew blouse. One side is marked with the British Air Ministry stamp, and the "King's Crown", indicating WWII Era use during the reign of King George VI:

A.M.
(King's Crown)
23 / 230

The other side has the military contract and stock numbers:

293 / 147
L1795

This fine example shows some age and patination of the nickel plating, but it still looks quite good, and the "pea" is still present inside. It has a worn red lace around it, which has been tied together several times after breaking.  Ready to display!

NOTE: We tested this whistle using an air compressor, and recommend if you intend to use it that it be disinfected thoroughly.
