Original U.S. WWII Type M2HB Browning .50 Caliber “Ma Deuce” Display Machine Gun with Complete M3 Tripod & Accessories

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is what we've all been waiting for! A real U.S. Browning M2HB .50cal Display Machine Gun, with all the usual extras! This fantastic example is built around a BATF approved dummy receiver constructed by Philadelphia Ordnance, which we believe only replaced the side plates themselves, and used original parts for the top covers, barrel trunion, cocking handle guide, trigger group, and so forth. The barrel is 100% original and live, and can also be easily removed from the display receiver. The top covers still open, the trigger still moves, and the sights do as well. There are no internals the receiver, which is pretty much empty inside, except for the ends of the feed tray.

The receiver and much of the barrel are painted with U.S. Navy style "Haze Gray" paint, indicating that the parts used to construct it were originally in U.S. Navy service. This is a VERY durable paint job, resistant to the elements and just about everything else. It is well retained on the receiver, while the barrel shows a bit more wear to this finish. Additionally, the barrel has been fitted with the correct carry handle, as well as a flash hider, really adding to the look.

This "Ma Deuce" comes complete with an original WWII Style M3 Tripod, which has the correct pintle and T&E with it as well. The mount looks to have the original blued / gray finish on it, while the T&E and pintle are parkerized. There is no data plate on the central hub of the tripod, however there are U.S. stock numbers and inspection stamps on almost all of the parts, as well as markings on the M3 hub that indicate it was refurbished at some time in the past. The M2HB is STILL the heavy machine gun of choice for the U.S. military, as well as many other militaries around the world, so these tripods are still in service, which is one of the reasons they are so hard to find. We tested the tripod, and the only issue we can find is that we were unable to lock the central bar in place. We got it about 1/2" from closing but it would not quite make it.

Also included is an original .50 cal steel ammo can, a short length of disintegrating belt with dummy .50 cal cartridges in it, a barrel mitt, a cleaning brush, and some manuals for the M2 Browning. These all fit nicely inside the ammo can, so they can be displayed or kept in storage.

A fantastic opportunity to own a BATF approved inert display gun of one of the most enduring machine gun designs in history! Ready to display!

The M2 machine gun or Browning .50 caliber machine gun (informally, "Ma Deuce") is a heavy machine gun that was designed towards the end of World War I by John Browning. Its design is similar to Browning's earlier M1919 Browning machine gun, which was chambered for the .30-06 cartridge. The M2 uses Browning's larger and more powerful .50 BMG (12.7 mm) cartridge. The design has had many designations; the official U.S. military designation for the current infantry type is Browning Machine Gun, Cal. .50, M2, HB, Flexible. It is effective against infantry, unarmored or lightly armored vehicles and boats, light fortifications, and low-flying aircraft.

The gun has been used extensively as a vehicle weapon and for aircraft armament by the United States since the 1930s. It was heavily used during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Falklands War, the Soviet–Afghan War, the Gulf War, the Iraq War, and the War in Afghanistan. It is the primary heavy machine gun of NATO countries and has been used by many other countries as well. U.S. forces have used the M2 longer than any other firearm except the .45 ACP M1911 pistol, which was also designed by John Browning.

The current M2HB (heavy barrel) is manufactured in the U.S. by General Dynamics Ohio Ordnance Works, and U.S. Ordnance for use by the U.S. government, and for allies via Foreign Military Sales, as well as by foreign manufacturers such as FN Herstal.
