Original British Flintlock New Land Pattern Pistol with Belgian Lock Converted to Percussion - circa 1820
Original Item: Only one available. We just received this lovely Antique pistol, along with about 200 other guns, from a collection that sat in an attic for close to 100 years. This is a very nice British Light Dragoon Pistol, known as a NEW LAND flintlock pistol, a style introduced around 1810 for the Napoleonic Wars that ended in 1815. This gave Britain access to the Belgian gun-producing city of Liège, so parts for the pistol were made there, and it is marked on the lock with remnants of the original maker:
This example has been converted to percussion ignition system, probably in the 1830's and has a grip repair using a small sheet of brass nailed in place. The swivel ramrod has long since been absent but otherwise the pistol is in good used condition in an "AS IS" condition after probably more than 100 years storage.
This will certainly clean and restore nicely or display as is.
