Original U.S. WWII - Vietnam War Map Lot Featuring Philippine Campaign Map - 4 Maps

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Lot of 4 Available. The various features shown on a map are represented by conventional signs or symbols. For example, colors can be used to indicate a classification of roads. Those signs are usually explained in the margin of the map, or on a separately published characteristic sheet.

Some cartographers prefer to make the map cover practically the entire screen or sheet of paper, leaving no room "outside" the map for information about the map as a whole. These cartographers typically place such information in an otherwise "blank" region "inside" the map—cartouche, map legend, title, compass rose, bar scale, etc. In particular, some maps contain smaller "sub-maps" in otherwise blank regions—often one at a much smaller scale showing the whole globe and where the whole map fits on that globe, and a few showing "regions of interest" at a larger scale to show details that wouldn't otherwise fit. Occasionally sub-maps use the same scale as the large map—a few maps of the contiguous United States include a sub-map to the same scale for each of the two non-contiguous states.

The Maps In This Lot:
- 20” x 22 ½” WWII Philippine Campaign Map: The map was printed by and used for the 41st Infantry Division Headquarters G-3. G-3 manages, monitors, directs and coordinates standards-based individual MOS skill and skill progression training and training programs at Formal Learning Centers (FLC) and integrates Training Command staff supporting efforts and synchronization of resources. This map was more than likely used in a “war games” type scenario.

- 26” x 20” 1944 AAF Luzon Island Cloth Map: The map is in unissued condition with minor staining. It is dated for April 1944. One side is for Luzon Island and the other is Southeast China.

- 37 ½” x 40 ½” 1951 USAF Cloth Chart Map For Northeast China and Mongolia: The map was produced by the Aeronautical Chart Service in June of 1951. There was a UN May–June 1951 counteroffensive that was a military operation performed by the United Nations Command (UN) during the Korean War, launched in response to the Chinese spring offensive of April-May 1951. It was the final large-scale offensive of the war that saw significant territorial changes. This map could have very well been located in an aircraft during this.

- 35” x 24” 1968 Army Corps of Engineers Southeast Asia Briefing Map: This is a lovely Vietnam War era map with multiple locations marked, more than likely done during mission briefings and after actions. The map is in good condition but does show signs of use.

These are all wonderful maps from WWII, Korea and Vietnam War era! No collection is complete without a few maps thrown into the mix.

Comes more than ready for display.
