Original Item: Only One Item Available. At first glance, this looks to be a nice example of an Imperial Japanese Navy (IJN) Dress / Parade Dirk, complete with its brass-mounted leather scabbard. It has the correct cherry blossom around the cross pin, as we expected to see. However closer inspection showed that it was not quite what it seemed, especially with metal paint flaking off a plastic cross guard. Later war examples did have plastic grips, but the fittings were definitely still metal.
So, what we have here is a high quality toy replica of a Japanese Naval Dirk. It has a bright steel blade, which is reasonably sharp, and has a simple tang. It is attached to the completely plastic grip with a single cross pin. The scabbard is leather, however the drag fitting is painted plastic, while the throat is gold painted steel.
While it is a replica, it still does display quite nicely, and could be a relatively inexpensive place holder, as the Naval Dirks are quite hard to find.
