  • Original Item. Only One Available. This is a lovely example of a U.S. Civil War issue Model 1840 Non-Commissioned Officer's sword, possibly manufactured by a German maker given the lack of markings. The sword measures 38 3/8" overall, and has an all-brass hilt, with a "double scallop" cross guard, and a "D" hand guard enclosing the knurled hand grip.

The ricasso is unmarked from what we can see but markings may have faded over time. This may be indicative of a German maker but it is difficult to say for sure.

This sword is in good condition, with the expected wear from age, and little sign of field use. The blade still retains almost all of its original polished bright steel finish but does have scattered areas of staining. There is just a bit of staining and runner wear near the tip of the blade. The hilt is in great shape without any major denting.

This is an absolutely genuine U.S. Civil War 1840 Army NCO sword, offered in very good condition. Ready to display!
