Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very rare German Late WWII NSDAP Diplomatic Officer's Schirmmütze Visor Cap, with a great broken in look. The cap shows high quality fabrication, made from dark navy blue worsted wool fabric, and a traditional high front. The cap has the typical triple piping around the circumference, in this case made from white semi-synthetic rayon. The piping has a lot of wear however, so most of what is shown is in fact the underlying twine that the rayon is woven around.

It is decorated with a well detailed embroidered bullion spread-wing NSDAP Diplomatic eagle insignia on the front, and and an open silver bullion embroidered oak leaf wreath surrounding an embroidered tri-color cockade on the band. Both are in very good condition, though the eagle has some loose cords. It has a late war gold washed bullion cord "chinstrap", attached to silvered buttons, indicating that this cap is for an Officer. The visor / peak on this cap is black-finished "vulcanfibre", the standard material for NCOs and Officers alike, with a grey underside.

The cap is lined with gray colored rayon fabric and shows moderate staining and wear. This cap does not have the typical celluloid diamond sweat guard on the top, and it appears to never have had one. The tan leather sweatband has light flaking, and light to moderate staining. The sweatband is loose along the visor and has been reinforced with black stitches in a number of areas due to degradation of the original stitching.

The cap is in very good condition overall, with the only visible external damage being a 3/4 inch area to the left of the swas which appears to be a hard glue repair. The dark wool center band exhibits some crushing to the sides, from deterioration of the wicker under support.

These caps are very rare, and this is the first example that we have been able to locate. In fine condition, this cap is ready to display!
