Original French Napoleonic St. Etienne Flintlock Dragoon Pistol circa 1805

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a find example of the classic military flintlock pistol of the French evolutionary period, which continued being used into the era of the Emperor Napoleon during the Napoleonic wars. This type of pistol also saw much use in the new world.

The pistol has brass mounts on a walnut wood stock fitted with large skull crusher butt cap. The lock is marked Manuf. Imp. de St.Etienne, the major arsenal and arms factory throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. Fully functional and ready to display.

In 1815 the final defeat of Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo closed the doors on the Emperor's ambitions and French Military dominance in Europe.

This is a nice example of the standard dragoon pistol of the day, still retaining its original markings so often removed when sold off into private service. Stored for years before disposal into the civilian market when released from military stores makes these fine examples.
