Original Japanese WWII Late War Porcelain "Glass" Canteen with Bakelite Cap & Harness

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition Japanese WWII Army late war Porcelain canteen, often called a "glass" canteen by collectors, but it is definitely porcelain. These were made in the very last day of WWII, when access to the required metals was virtually gone, so porcelain was used for a time, before the move to more crude clay earthenware. It comes complete with its original rough canvas carrier, wooden stopper, and bakelite cap / cup.

The body of the canteen measures approximately 5"W x 8"H x 2 3/4", and is made from white porcelain. This was originally was painted tan, but then was overpainted with a green camouflage coat. This has unfortunately mostly worn away, but traces are still visible.

The wooden stopper fits securely into the threaded top of the body, which is then covered by the bakelite cap / cup , which measures approximately 1 3/4" x 1 3/4", and still screws on securely.

Overall a very rare Japanese WWII Canteen. Ready to add to your collection!
