Original German WWII Optics & Machinegun Sand Color Tripod by Eugen Ising - Waffenamt Marked

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Recently discovered in long term storage at I.M.A. is this fully marked adjustable tripod, with legs that measure 24 inches closed and 38 inches fully extended. These were normally used for a set of optics, but could with the correct fitting adapter be used with an MG 42 :-

Please see Uniforms and Traditions of the German Army 1933-1942 Volume 3, written by Angolia & Schlicht, page 343.

It is painted with a sand dunkelgelb (dark yellow) color, no doubt for use in North Africa's Afrikakorps. It is marked on the central fitting with a German Waffenamt eagle over maker code dqc, for Metalfabrik Eugen Ising, Bergneustadt in Rheinland. This metalworking business is known for making optical and gun tripods.

The tripod is currently fitted with the "finger mount" intended for optics, but can easily take the MG 42 fitting as illustrated in the above reference book.

In the original condition it was stored away probably 40 years ago. It needs some slight cleaning and adjustment to the leg pinch clamps, and would then be ready to display.
