Original British 3rd Kings Own Hussar Trooper Busby - Dated 1911

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available The 3rd King's Own Hussars were raised in 1685 and saw service in almost every British Campaign of the late 17th and 18th century. Most notably the Battle of Culloden in 1746.

This Regimental Busby made from black bearskin bears a red leather label to the interior stamped with a golden King's Crown over the date of 1911. The hanging "bag" to the right side is light blue, actually referred to as "Garter Blue", is embroidered with lemon yellow braid. The chin strap is in fact correctly constructed of heavy brass interlocking rings sown to a leather backing and not just a thin leather strap as one might expect.

This Helmet still retains the correct two stage white horsehair plume or hackle with brass base. Already over 100 years of age this example has weathered with some losses to the bearskin at the edges but the helmet still presents very attractively.
