Original U.S. WWII Large Aluminum Handle Cog Knuckle Knife with Original Sheath

Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. This Knuckle Knife is a period custom made knife constructed of a cast aluminum grip with a large double edged thick blade. The knife also comes with its original leather scabbard. It quite possibly is an Australian or New Zealand- Made Knife, as it has some features concurrent with other fighting knives made in those areas. This knife comes from the collection of renown World War Two knife collector and author Greg Aloisio.

The grip is cast aluminum which shows traces of its original black painted finish. The guard is of the “cog” style, with large ridges on the knuckle guard. Pommel features a large four panel “skull cracker” finial. The knife itself measures 15 3/4" overall with a 9 3/4" blade and a 5 1/2" grip. The thick steel blade is double edged and shows signs of heavy original (period) sharpening.

Original Sheath shows heavy wear, but is solid and in one piece. The tip is torn away from age and honest use. The crude star rivets used in the construction of the sheath show heavy corrosion. The wear on the scabbard is what is commonly seen with leather items used and carried in the Pacific Theater. The hot wet conditions of the jungles of the South Pacific tended to not be very kind to leather.

An excellent example of a rather fierce WWII fighting knife!
