Original Rare Japanese WWII Arisaka Type 99 & TERA Type 2 Paratrooper Leather Rifle Sling with Snap Hook

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice example of the very rare Japanese WW II leather sling, fitted with an original quick-detach snap hook device on one end. This type of sling was used on early Type 99 Arisaka rifles and the famous TERA Type 2 take-down paratrooper rifle, which was based on the Type 99. The sling is the correct wide pattern for early production.

The rare snap hook allowed for rapid removal of the sling, and was especially useful on the paratrooper models, as those guns actually separated into two pieces. This is the first example of one of these slings that we have had, and possibly the only we'll ever have.

Condition is very nice, with the expected wear to the leather from age and use., The hardware is in good condition, with a lot of the original paint retaining. The original stud for one end of the sling is unfortunately missing, but could be sourced relatively easily.

A great chance to pick up a very rare Japanese sling!

The TERA Rifles (挺進落下傘小銃/挺身落下傘小銃 "Teishin Rakkasan Shoujuu") were special Japanese takedown rifles developed for paratroopers of the Imperial Japanese Army. All designs were capable of either being broken down or folded into two parts and easily assembled or disassembled. There were two prototypes produced, and only one model was actually put into use: The Type 2 based on the Type 99 Rifle. This example Separated into two parts: stock and action, and barrel and sights. It also featured a slightly shorter cleaning rod.
