Original Items: Only One Lot of 2 Available. These are nice examples of original WWI and WWII Era Japanese Issue Canteens. The smaller is the Pattern 1905 Canteen, with the updated canvas suspension harness which dates from the WWI era.
The Canteens In This Lot:
- WWI Pattern 1905 Canteen: The canteen is in a heavily service used condition with denting present and cracking in the leather. The aluminum body still retains much of the original light brown color, as does the cap portion of the cork stopper. The WWII era updated carry harness is in solid condition with minor fraying present. The leather strap used to keep the stopper in place is unfortunately broken.
- WWII Canteen: This was the standard issued canteen to Japanese troops during WWII. It has a lovely webbing carry harness with stains consistent with service use and wear. It is complete with the cork stopper and an intact leather securing strap. There are various markings and stamps on the aluminum body, some of which appear to have been done by hand. There is no excessive denting present and the paint has the expected areas of chipping and color loss.
These are both wonderful examples of Imperial Japanese Army canteens, perfect for any WWII Pacific Theatre displays! Comes more than ready for further research and display.
