Original Japanese Pre-WWII Paper Map dated Showa 7 / 1932 - 22.5" x 18"

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. We've had quite a number of U.S. issued maps of Japan over the years, but this is the first time we've had a Japanese issued map.  Our ability to translate Japanese is limited, and unfortunately a lot of characters stymied translation applications, as they are from before the Post-WWII changes to the Japanese written language.

The map measures 22.5" x 18", and is made of paper. There are some stains and small tears, but overall it is in very good condition. The lower left portion of the map has a date on it that reads: 昭 和 七 年 十 二 月 二 十 日 , which translates to This would be read: SHOWA (current reigning emperor) Shichi Nen (7th year of reign - 1932) Jūni Gatsu (2nd Month - December) Ni-jū Hi (20th Day). Essentially, December 20th, 1932 in the Western Calendar.

There is faint writing in blue pencil in Japanese, as well as other writing in red, so it's very possible that this map was captured in the field, most likely in mainland Asia.

An excellent research opportunity!
