Original WWI Dutch Model 1912 Infantry Officer Visor Cap

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a near excellent condition World War One Dutch Infantry Officer visor cap. Wool body has no significant issues with mothing and very few cosmetic issues at all. All of the gilded bullion piping and trim, as well as that of the rosette surrounded by the wreath, retain 90% of their original appealing glimmer.

Neither side of the visor have cracking or crazing and only show some minor wear to the edges. Original chinstrap and brass attachment points are both nice.

Inside leather sweatband is intact, shows some field wear, and a touch or fraying on the rear seam. Celluloid liner cover has one crack and the liner bears the original manufacturer's gilt logo but it is difficult to make out due to the film on the cover and the coloring of the ink.

The Royal Netherlands Army was mobilized throughout the conflict, as belligerents regularly attempted to intimidate the Netherlands and place demands on it. In addition to providing a credible deterrence, the army had to house refugees, guard internment camps for captured soldiers, and prevent smuggling. The government also restricted the free movement of people, monitored spies, and took other wartime measures.
