Original Item: Only One Available. This is an excellent matching Unit Marked Police Long Bayonet by E. & F. Hörster of Solingen. Features a beautiful Stag Handle, with matching unit markings on the guard and back of the scabbard:

This is a fantastic early war quality, un-slotted dress bayonet, with approximately 33 cm (12.75 inches) long nickel plated steel blade, which was forged "cut-down" style, with the fuller running to the tip. Blade is nice and bright, of excellent quality, and still has about 95% of the original nickel plating, which is mostly missing on the lower front edge.
The blade ricasso is maker marked E. & F. HÖRSTER / SOLINGEN , and the opposite ricasso bears the company's trademark downward pointing sword and interlocking HHS initials. E. & F. Hörster & Co Gmbh, is a well-known maker from Solingen, the famous "City of Blades" in Western Germany, which marketed many fine edged weapons.
The leather blade buffer washer is present, and is white in color. The bayonet grip scales are made of stag-horn with an aluminum police insignia firmly attached on one side, all sandwiched between upswept cross guard decorated with oak leaves, and topped by stylized eagle’s head. Both cross guard and eagle’s head are well detailed and in very good condition, with most of the original nickel plating present.
Wrapped about the frog is an excellent Policeman's Troddel knot. This troddel is of black fabric strapping with triple stitches of silver, the center one also has red stitching. There is a slide and the stem is covered in silver bullion. The oval ball is also silvered and in great shape, with a red, black, and silver insert in the end.
The scabbard is made of brown leather, fitted with nickel plated brass, and is in very good condition. There is wear to the brown finish, but it still presents very nicely. The scabbard is held in a very nice condition white patent leather frog, which is in very good condition, with almost all of the lovely pebbled finish intact.
This is a wonderful early war high police bayonet! Ready to display!
