Item Description

Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. The Battle of Britain (German: die Luftschlacht um England, literally "Air battle for England") was air combat during the Second World War, when the Royal Air Force (RAF) defended the United Kingdom against the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) attacks from the end of June 1940. It is described as the first major campaign fought entirely by air forces. The British officially recognize its duration as from 10 July until 31 October 1940 that overlaps with the period of large-scale night attacks known as the Blitz.

This very nice display board measures approximately 14" x 11", and has numerous artifacts from a shot down plane from the Battle of Britain. There is a piece of the aircraft aluminum from the outside "skin" of the aircraft, but it is quite small, so determining which aircraft it came from, and where on the plane it corresponds to, is nearly impossible.

There are also various small parts, connectors, and other items, which appear to have been dug up some time after the war was over, judging by the condition and oxidation. The person who assembled the board also added a fabric Luftwaffe Eagle and a picture of a Luftwaffe plane, though we have no idea if it is the correct plane.

A very nice small collection, mounted to a board and ready to display!
