Item Description
Original Items: One Pair Only. This is a lovely pair of French Rifled Percussion pistols, which started out as flintlock pistols, and were later converted. They are marked FOURNI PAR LE PAGE on the 8" multi grooved barrels. These pistols were originally made by the famous Parisian Maker JEAN ANDRES LEPAGE, who worked from 1792 until 1854. They were then converted to Percussion, with new breeches being added by FOURNI(ER) of Paris who worked from 1823 until 1872. The inscription literally means that these are Fournier pistols "through" LePage, or to us LePage Pistols converted by Fournier.
Each percussion hammer has a hinged nipple protector utilizing the original flintlock frizzen spring assembly. Each pistol has fine walnut stocks with beautifully checkered grips and set triggers. One pistol is set up with the set trigger engaged, while the other is currently set up for standard operation.
The mounts are all iron still bearing their original blue color. As flintlocks these probably date to around 1810 with Percussion conversion probably being undertaken in the late 1830s or 1840s. In wonderful condition these are very rare and desirable, ready to display.
