Original Item: Only One available. This is an very good condition Luftwaffe Artillery EM/NCO Schirmmütze Visor Cap, with the standard "Summer" color off white removable crown. These do not have the usual crown stiffener, so they always have a lovely "crushed" shape. It is fabricated from lovely white cotton fabric, with wide black wool cap band, plus two rows of deep red (tiefrot) color piping around the circumference. This is the Luftwaffe Waffenfarbe (corps color) for Anti-aircraft troops and other Artillery.
The peaked visor cap retains a very nice aluminum pin Luftwaffe droop-tail eagle with swas, as well as centrally mounted aluminum oak leaves with tri-color cockade. The black patent leather chin strap and buttons are still present and in very good condition. The visor is the classic black color with stitched edge trim, made of pressed vulcanfibre.
The sweatband on this example is thin leather, and is well retained, though it has tears in several places due to age deterioration. There is no top celluloid diamond, as these were usually left out of the summer weight visor caps, to help keep one's head cool. Under the front is the pencil marking 55 1/2, most likely indicating the size. As with most visor caps of this age, a lot of the stitching is very delicate, and a good amount has deteriorated, so the cap should be handled with care.
This is a very nice Luftwaffe Artillery Branch Summer Weight EM/NCO peaked visor cap, offered in very good used condition. Ready to display!
