Original British WWI Royal Air Force Comission of 2nd Lt. Wallace Park with Flight Helmet and Wings

Item Description

Original Items: One Set Only. SECOND LIEUTENANT WALLACE PARKE received his Graduation Certificate on April 26th 1918 at the Royal Air Force's Central Flying School at Upavon, Wiltshire. At this point it had only been 4 weeks since the Royal Flying Corps was founded on 1 April 1918, with headquarters located in the former Hotel Cecil, during the First World War, by the amalgamation of the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) and the Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS). He then officially received his Commission on November 1st of 1918 from King George Vth.

In addition to these two original certificates we have this Pilot's leather Flight Helmet by A. Edwards & Co of London,  and the cloth "RAF" Wings from his uniform. The helmets is in good condition, though most of the wool lining unfortunately has been damaged by a century wear and moth damage. The maker label is still legible though, and the leather supple.

Fortunately for Lieutenant Parke the First World War ended on November 11th. 1918, most probably without his having seen action. Nevertheless, "Those also serve who stand and wait" - Winston Churchill.

Nice set, Ready to Display.
