Original Item: Only One Available. We have had Flags from the Soviet Union before, but most are from the Collapse era. This however is a high quality embroidered fringed banner or flag, which is a type specifically used during the 2nd World War. Tt measures approximately 36"H x 48"W and is made of multiple pieces of cotton fabric sewn together, with lovely embroidered slogans, as well as the central "flag" insignia, which features a wood fire on top of the Soviet "Hammer & Sickle". This is a campfire, such as used by 'Pioneers', and above this is the statement БУДЬ ГОТОВ!, pronounced "BUD' GOTOV!", Russian for "Be prepared!"

These translate to "To Fight for the Cause", "Lenin - Stalin", and "Be Prepared! These are part of the "Summons" of the Young Pioneers of the Soviet Union: "Pioneer, to fight for the cause of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, be prepared! (Russian: Пионер, к борьбе за дело Коммунистической партии Советского Союза будь готов!).

Officially known as the "Vladimir Lenin All-Union Pioneer Organization" (Russian: Всесою́зная пионе́рская организа́ция и́мени В. И. Ле́нина), this was often abbreviated as the Young Pioneers. The group was a mass youth organization of the Soviet Union for children of age 9–15 that existed between 1922 and 1991. Similar to the Scouting organizations of the Western world, Pioneers learned skills of social cooperation and attended publicly funded summer camps. However they also were of course indoctrinated with the Soviet Communist beliefs.

The mention of Stalin on the flag is definitive for the WWII Era, as Stalin passed not long after, and the Soviet Union underwent a process of "De-Stalinization". It is possible that the flag is post WWII, but the only real time when these flags were found easily was during the WWII Period, where they could be captured by German Soldiers advancing into Russia. Once the war was over, very little of any type of material came out of the Soviet Union.
