Original British WWI Era P-1912 G.R.I. Marked Nickel Plated Cavalry Officers Sword With Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Complete with its steel Nickel plated scabbard this example is considered a "Parade Sword", the sword itself also completely nickel plated on every steel surface. In combat the guard was often plated green or brown so as not to reflect the light and a brown scabbard was used for the same reason.

The bowl of the guard is all engraved decoratively around the Royal Cypher of King George the Fifth, G.R.I. (GEORGE REX IMPERATOR) George, King and Emperor, the Emperor referring to INDIA, a title granted to his Grandmother Queen Victoria in 1880.

The blade is also engraved and nickel plated, and the maker name WILKINSON PALL MALL can just barely be made out under the plating. The other ricasso marked with a brass plug set in a six-pointed star. The hilt is wrapped in Ray Skin and does show slight losses and wear. Some nickel has flaked away in the last 100 years however this is still a nice example of a first World War Cavalry Officer's Sword that are getting scarcer in today's market.
