Original Rare Imperial Japanese WWII 1938 Dated Winter Fur Lined Pilot Electric Heated Flight Suit

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Imperial Japanese one piece winter flying suit offered in good original condition. Features superb light brown rabbit fur collar while the body of the suit is lined in white fleece. The shell is made from brown cotton which shows signs of honest wear, age, and some period repairs (particularly to the right leg pocket). A few areas of damage, as pictured. Suit has all original zippers fitted to both sleeves, ankles and also to the double breast pockets, used for storing maps, pistol and personal items. All zippers work flawlessly. Original waist belt is present with the original buckle.

The inside storm flap of the jacket carries the original Japanese factory manufacturing details in stamped ink, which is crisp and legible. The middle row shows a clear manufacture date of 昭 和 十 三 年. This would be read: SHOWA (current reigning emperor) Juu San Nen (13th year of reign - 1938). These markings would also contain information about the maker and sizing.

In addition the trousers feature fur lined pockets to both knees. The reverse of the pants still retain the original cord for the electric plug, however the plug itself is missing, and the pocket in which the plug was stored shows damage. These suits were used primarily by Japanese bomber and fighter pilots during the cold weather months and for high altitude missions.

Offered in overall excellent complete condition. Size is approximately a US 38 and would fit a 5'9 man. These are extremely rare.
