Original Item This helmet was manufactured nearly identically to the specifications of the US WW2 M1 Helmet. The Danish M.48 (model 1948) was a NATO contract helmet and every shell was manufactured either in Austria by the Ulbrichts firm or in Germany by the Linnemann-Schnetzer firm. Steel shell features a classic steel pot shape with rear seam, swivel bails (chinstrap connection points) and a canvas chin strap with steel claw connector.
The plastic liners were also manufactured nearly identically to US WWII issue and were made by Dansk Kunststof Industri. The plastic liners all have the WWII type frontal eyelet. Other correct WW2 features include cotton herringbone twill (HBT) cloth suspension. This HBT suspension is held tightly within the M-1 helmet liner by rivets and a series of triangular "A" washers. The three upper suspension bands are joined together with a shoestring. This way the wearer could adjust the fit. Also, each liner has a leather chinstrap.
Each helmet is well used, but overall in very good condition and are quite serviceable. Each shows typical scuffs, scraps, and minor dings from long-term storage. Steel pot and the inner liner are matte gray.
A handsome helmet in very good condition with origins of a country from whom military equipment rarely becomes available.
