Original Victorian Era Officer Astrakhan Hat of the Sherwood Rangers

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The Sherwood Rangers were part of the Nottinghamshire Yeomanry raised in 1794. Intended, as a domestic regiment it's first overseas action was in the 2nd Boer War 1899-1901 where is received it's first Battle Honor.

In WWII it saw extensive overseas service including TOBRUK in North Africa and up through Italy from WW2 alone the Regiment added another 30 Battle Honors. This Officer's Cap is made of Persian lamb known as "Astrakhan" and is decorated with black cording and small Sherwood Rangers Cap Badge to the side. It sports a silver mounted rec and black feather plume and still retains the original leather chinstrap with headband although the silk lining is mostly absent.
