Original Item: Only One Available. Raised in 1685 as The Earl of Peterborough's Regiment of Horse they fought at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, they were renamed The Queen's Own Regiment of Horse in 1715 and the 2nd Queens Regiment of Dragoon Guards in 1746. Finally designated as 2ND DRAGOON GUARDS (QUEEN'S BAYS) in 1767 until 1921.
Here we have a trooper's red tunic with white collar and cuffs, complete with King's Crown Buttons, updated in 1901, with brass shoulder badge BAYS to left shoulder. Tunic comes complete with Queen Victoria Crown buckle white buff waist belt and white buff cross belt bearing black leather document pouch bearing gilt Royal Coat of Arms.
Finally the set includes a late Victorian era brass helmet with star burst badge around the numeral 2, for 2nd Dragoon Guards. The helmet sports the regimental red horse hair plume and the helmet shows use and general wear overall. In the late Victorian era the Regiment saw service in India, Egypt and South Africa returning to Europe in time for the First World War.
