Original Japanese WWII USGI Bring Back Collection

Item Description

Original Items: One-of-a-kind set. This set of items is contained in a relatively small cardboard box that measures 9 x 8 x 2 but don’t let that fool you, the contents are massive in number. There are hundreds of pieces in this grouping. The box is for the book The Jingle of a Jap, which was written by Clara Bell Thurston and published in 1908. This collection was amassed by a USMC member during his time in the Pacific theater in WW2. Many pieces were taken directly from fallen Japanese soldiers. Inside there are the following things:

• Dozens of original period photos 1900-1945 many of Japanese soldiers, Geishas, and one of a man with bare feet standing on two swords!
• Dozens of Japanese military medals and patches.
• Currency both paper and coins.
• Various books, forms, pamphlets and other papers.
• Decorative spoon
. • Armband
• Postcards.
• Ink stamp with red ink.
• Souvenir Japanese Cigarette in display package ??? Homare -- Japan -- this is a popular brand in Japan and cost 7 yen a pack on the battleship Yamato.
• Small tools
• Various other items

All of this came highly packed in the box and appeared not to have been opened in decades perhaps since the USGI brought the stuff back at the end of World War Two.

The medals and patches alone are valued over $1000 take those and add in the other material and this small box packs a big punch!
