Original Indian Mutiny Tulwar Sword with Lion Head Pommel 1857-1859

Item Description

Original Item:Only One.

This is a terrific Indian Mutiny Tulwar Sword which was most likely carried by a British Officer in the East India Company's Bengal Army, possibly just like Captain Sir Dighton Mcnaghten Probyn, who founded "Probyn's Horse" of the 2nd Punjab Cavalry, a unit that still

exists today. A visit to Wikipedia referencing this Officer will bring up this Victory Cross Winner at aged 24 in his "native attire".

The sword is made from a British 1796 Light Cavalry hatchet point saber blade measuring 31" long and 36 1/2" overall length married to a traditional India Tulwar type hilt but with the addition of a British silver lion head pommel and back strap. The grip of substantial proportions, made for a European hand. Of it's type this is by far the best and most impressive Tulwar for European Officer use we have ever seen.

Scabbard absent but sword displays wonderfully
