Original German WWII USGI Bring Back Shot Through Trench Art M40 Helmet - Somewhere in Germany

Item Description

Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Acquired directly from a veteran’s estate this is an amazing bring back trench art helmet. The helmet itself is a M40 (model 1940) Q64. The shell is stamped Q64 indicating that Quist in Esslingen, Germany manufactured it. Size 64 is a nice large size that can accommodate liners from 56cm to 58cm or US 7 to 7 1/4.

The unique aspects of this helmet are many; first there is a .45 caliber size bullet hole (Thompsn SMG or 1991 pistol) that passes through the front of the helmet and exits through the back. The soldier then painted the phrase:

SOMEWHERE

IN

GERMANY

1944

Now certainly, this is a helmet that could have been faked in the more modern times. However, close inspection of the paint, style and aging of the edges along with the provenance lead us to be very confident that this totally 100% genuine. The interior also show small trace of light rust caused by blood stains.
