Original Item: 1936 Officers pattern Tschako with police green wool body and black trim. Has very fine quality police officer eagle with bullion wire cockade with rare matte-silver aluminum scaled chinstrap. A great Polizei helmet (shako) as used by the metropolitan police, unlike some of the more common ones found trimmed in brown for rural police, this one is with black trim for the metropolitan police.
Interior is fine, leather is supple and shows only light age, the cloth silk rayon material is fully intact, owners name still visible on inner leather liner and size 54. Maker marked on inner dome top with maker decal EREL, BERLIN, FIBER-TSCHAKO.
Overall it shows only minor wear, does show some age to the black lacquered finish in some areas with some light moth track in the wool, no holes. Vents are perfect condition with working slide closure. Overall a fine looking rare officer’s Shako.

Hello there, just wanted to say this is a very nice shako not trying to be picky but you are correct that this is a officers shako, there is also a enlisted man shako in black and a enlisted man shako rural in brown which is NOT "common" the black enlisted man one is the most common one ,for every 30 black ones you will get a brown one,the officers one like you have here is pretty rare also ,you don't see them very often, they are mostly always accompanied by a buffalo hair plume, the rarest ones in this category are the bandsmen which have a red plume
