Original British Sons of King George III Signature Collection

Item Description

Original Items: one-of-a-kind set. This is unusual and compelling. King George III who ruled from 1760 until 1820 had a flock of children with Queen Charlotte including nine sons and six daughters. Remarkably, only two of the fifteen legitimate children died at infancy.

The collection includes three different envelopes each signed on the exterior by one of King

George III princes as follows:

• Second son FREDERICK AUGUSTUS, Duke of York 1763 - 1827. This is the son known from the nursery rhyme; "The grand old Duke of York, he had ten thousand men…
• Third son WILLIAM HENRY, The Duke of Clarence 1760 - 1837. Served as the best man at Horatio Nelson’s wedding and known as The Sailor Prince who himself became KING WILLIAM IV, 1820-1837, succeeded by Queen Victoria, his niece.
• Seventh son ADOLPHUS, The Duke of Cambridge 1773 - 1850. Commander of the King's German legion in 1803 and became a Field Marshall in 1813.

With each original envelope bearing original signature comes a color gloss photo copy of each of these princes in their official state portraits. Ready for framing and displaying making this a very interesting offering of British historical significance.
