Original British Pre-WWI Gordon Highlanders Uniform Set with Original Bagpipes

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Set Available. Well this is neat dating from just pre WW1 this appears to be the complete uniform set of a highland piper from the 18th century British regiment, the Gordons.

The 92nd Regiment of Foot, known as the Gordon Highlanders, were originally known as the 75th Stirlingshire Regiment of Foot raised in 1787 by Colonel Robert Abercromby. They saw service in India, South Africa, the Indian Mutiny as the 75th Regiment, and saw service with the 100th Highlanders led by the Duke of Gordon. The Regiment was renumbered the 92nd in 1798 and saw service in the Low Countries (Belgium and Holland), Egypt, followed by the Peninsular War in Portugal and Spain then Waterloo in 1815. They then went on to serve in Afghanistan and South Africa also.

In 1881 these Regiments of Foot were amalgamated into the "GORDON HIGHLANDERS" a title they retained until 1994 when amalgamated with the Seaforths and Camerons to form, simply, The Highlanders.

Finally in 2006 they merged with the remaining Scottish Infantry Regiments now to be known as The Royal Regiment of Scotland, with Regimental histories stretching back over 225 years covering every British Military conflict.

This Piper's set is comprised of the following-

• Red regimental tunic (US Chest size 38/40)
• Kilt
• Regimental Sporran
• Wide black leather cross belt
• Wide black leather waist belt with silvered regimental mounts
• Red sash complete with breast badge displaying large colored Citrine type stone (probably colored glass) with silvered mounts.
• Wool socks (anklets)
• White leather regimental Spats, however no boots.
• On parade a feathered bonnet was worn but on lesser occasions a Glengarry, a later example of which is included bearing an original Gordon Highlanders pre WW1 Glengarry badge displaying the regiment’s symbol of an "Antlers Head" over the motto "BYDAND" (meaning STEADFAST in Middle Scots)
• Original Bagpipes, still possibly in working order, however with a couple of new made replacement parts (none of us know how this thing works here).

The whole outfit a great display piece of Scottish military tradition. WW1 era ceremonial uniform of a Piper of the Gordon Highlanders with a set of genuine original bagpipes, only missing is a pair of hairy legs, which alas, are not included.
